Central Vidarbha moderate Rainfall |
Rainfall of 1,200 mm/year well distributed within the S-W monsoon months. Maximum temperatures of 35-40 degrees Celsius in the summer. Humidity of about 75% in the rainy season. Soils are black derived from basalt rock, medium to heavy texture, and generally Fertile. Cropping patterns involve cotton, sorghum, pulses, wheat and oilseeds. |

Moderate to Moderately High Rainfall Zone (Central Maharashtra Plateau Zone) |
Large plateau covering the central part of the state. Well distributed rainfall of 700 to 900 mm/year dictated by the S-W monsoon. Summer temperature will reach about 40 degrees Celsius. Soils are vertisoils and entisoils varying from medium black to reddish brown. Sorghum is the most important crop, but cotton, oilseeds, millet, groundnut, pulses and sugarcane occupy significant areas. |
a)Topography
Nanded is the second biggest city in Marathwada. The geographical location shows this city lying at a North Latitude of 18 15’ to 19 55’ and East longitude of 77 to 78 25’. The district spreads across at an area of about 10,422 sq. kms. Nanded is located at the south east region in Maharashtra. This region is bound by Karnataka’s Bidar district in the south, Andhra Pradesh’s Nizamabad district and Adilabad district in the south east, Yeotamal district in the North and Parbhani district in the North West and Latur district in the Southeast. This makes the area flaunt an undulating topography that features hills, gentle slopes, valleys and plateaus. This Nanded district is divided in two main parts physiographically; one is the hilly areas located at the North and North east region of the Godavari valley while the rest is the low lying areas in the south of the valley that spreads across the banks of various rivers such as Godawari, Penganga, Manjira and Manyad. There are 16 talukas in Nanded district such as: Ardhapur, Kinwat,Bhokar,Loha,Biloli, Mahoor, Degloor, Mukhed, Dharmabad, Mudkhed, Hadgaon, Nanded, Himayatnager, Naigaon (KH), Kandhar, Umari
